FUTMINNA Over 5,000 Matriculates

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Musbau Adewumi Akanji, FNSBMB, FAS, has said that the University have put in place mechanism to facilitate good teaching and learning through innovative practical experience. 

He stated this during the 30th matriculation ceremony of the University held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the Suleiman Kumo Convocation Square, Main Campus. 

Prof. Akanji urged the newly admitted students to make use of the facilities at their disposal such as the libraries, laboratories, workshops and Information Technology Services (ITS) Centre in order to enhance learning and research activities while advising them to seek guidance and counselling from the Counselling Unit of the University. 

He admonished the students to refrain from all acts that is contrary to the rules and regulations of the University and to avoid associating with people of questionable characters. 

He implored them to utilize the sporting facilities provided at both Campuses for their physical and mental development. He cautioned the students to desist from examination malpractice, fraud of all kinds, financial racketeering, cultism, fighting, theft and illicit drug dealing amongst others. 

The Vice-Chancellor encouraged those who may later show interest in Student Unionism to be responsible and see it as an avenue to contribute positively to the development of the University and the society at large. 

Prof. Akanji congratulated the newly admitted students on their admission and urged them to maintain the University’s peaceful co-existence and stay peacefully with the host communities and recognized their values and traditions. 

He urged the students to register and use the University Health Services on both Campuses instead of self medication or consulting unrecognized medical personnel. 

Prof. Akanji disclosed that a total of 15,951 candidates applied to FUT, Minna through UTME and 3,806 through Direct Entry out of which the University could only admit 5,141 candidates. 

The Registrar of the University, Mrs. Victoria Kolo administered the matriculation oath on the students
